Objectives
The main objectives of this initiative are:
- contribute to the enhanced enjoyment of human rights by women and girls in all their diversity
- advance gender equality in Benin.
We will achieve this by:
- enhancing organizational sustainability of local Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs)/vulnerable groups to deliver their gender equality mandates
- strengthening programming and advocacy of WROs/vulnerable groups and Women Human Rights defenders (WRDs) to advance gender equality and empower women and girls
- increasing effectiveness of sub-national, national, regional and global women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances to affect policy, legal and social change.
This DIMI aligns with the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership program.
Eligibility (by invitation only)
Organizations invited to submit a concept note demonstrate the following criteria:
- Canadian civil society organization (legally incorporated in Canada) with an office in Benin
- can demonstrate (at least 5 years within the last 10 years) of experience managing, delivering and achieving international development results related to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Benin
- can demonstrate commitment to and experience in feminist programming, principles and practices (e.g. intersectionality, locally-led, gender-transformative)
- can demonstrate experience supporting Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), vulnerable groups and feminist networks (e.g. direct funding, capacity building) in Benin
- can demonstrate established relationships and networks with WROs, and other diverse groups within the feminist movement in Benin
- can demonstrate at least 5 years of experience managing projects valued at CAD$4,000,000 or more.
